Manage the Events Department at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in a manner consistent with the philosophy of Stone Brewing.  Promote, price, plan, coordinate, and supervise the execution of all special party, banquet, and event functions at the Bistro. Ensure that customer requirements and specifications are adhered to and that events run smoothly, efficiently and profitably.  Coaches, mentors, and trains Events Department staff as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Solicit and promote special event business through networking, contacting past customers, establishing relationships with local businesses, and other cost-effective activities.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees, and guests.
  • Works with the General Manager to focus sales efforts to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain an updated and detailed price sheet of all billable products and services that accurately reflects current costs and the company’s profit objectives.
  • Negotiate final pricing, prepare contracts, and secure customer signatures.
  • Ensure the process for securing a date and collecting final payment is adhered to.
  • Document final arrangements with clients on BEO. Obtain all specifications and pertinent information concerning the event, including but not limited to, guaranteed number attending, schedule of events, and menu.
  • Regularly review upcoming BEO and have thorough understanding of all requirements on upcoming scheduled events.
  • Maintain events calendar.
  • Maintain and update menu offerings for banquets and events with assistance from the Executive Chef.
  • Communicate with other departments as needed so that all involved parties have a complete understanding of their responsibilities regarding each event.
  • Supervise and direct special events staff, as needed.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training where appropriate to further the advancement, performance, and efficiency of Events staff.
  • Prepare schedule requests to ensure a sufficient number and appropriate skill levels of staff. Ensure an event captain is assigned for each event.
  • Prepare all required paperwork including forms, reports, and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
  • Work with Event Coordinators to insure the proper execution of events.
  • Provide special events staff, Commissary, and BOH with a copy of each BEO to gain a thorough understanding of event specifications prior to the event.
  • Requisition or obtain equipment and supplies needed for each event, ensuring that they meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Inspect event room prior to the start of each event as needed. Check room setup, menu, service staff, etc., conforms to the BEO.
  • Provide a financial recap for all events sent to appropriate management personnel. 
  • Manage post event recap discussions involving the positives and negatives of the event and notes for improvement for the next year as needed, and maintain a file of all meeting notes.
  • Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair, and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Provide advice and suggestions to all management staff as needed.
  • Check the quantity and quality of received event supplies during the shift.
  • Attend regularly scheduled weekly meetings.
  • Create a motivational environment with open and effective communication.
  • Mentor and coach events team to reduce turnover and retain team members.

  • Education: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of related experience and/or training in the food/beverage service, sales or restaurant/hotel industry. Must have at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Must have experience and knowledge of ABC laws for legal sale of alcohol. Must possess knowledge of service, food, and beverage industry. Prior event sales experience desired.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Previous experience with Point of Sale systems is a must.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess a Servsafe and/or San Diego County Food Handlers Managers Card. Current RABS (Responsible Alcohol Beverage Service) training certificate preferred. Certified Beer Server or higher preferred. CMP a plus.  
  • Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.

Travel Requirements: Must have reliable transportation as this role requires occasional travel to events and other Stone locations as well as local businesses.
