Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager will manage the maintenance organization and drive operational excellence through team leadership, strategy development and execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage a comprehensive reliability and proactive maintenance program.

  • Expand the use of CMMS program to drive a more systematic and transparent organization. Including equipment and parts documentation, vendor and inventory management, documentation and lifecycle management.

  • Provide leadership to the Maintenance department and establish and implement developmental strategy for each member.

  • Provide and sustain knowledge and skills development

  • Complete team members performance evaluation.

  • Develop and lead cross functional teams to achieve continuous improvement in site support.

  • Manage department budgets, forecast fixed and variable cost

  • Support capital planning and perform investment / ROI analysis.

  • Ensure team member safety, OSHA, Stone Brewing Co. and other code compliance in all activities such 100% Lock Out / Tag Out procedures, documentation, confined space entry, personal safety equipment, etc.

  • Lead the team to develop efficient and effective maintenance procedures including Autonomous Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance.

  • Lead Focused Improvement events to transform equipment performance and reliability

  • Establish and utilize KPI to drive Reliability Centered Maintenance.

  • Provide training to the organization on maintenance best practices, TPM, RCM, root cause analysis tools, etc.

  • Provide project management for utilities and maintenance projects.

  • Mentor the Maintenance team and develop systems to ensure ongoing process improvement.

  • Define strategies for ABC stock parts

  • Ensure safe condition and operation of all systems in compliance with all current regulations. Establish compliance strategy for future regulations.
  • Optimize performance of all systems for both reliability and efficiency.

  • Ensure systems operate at designed capacity and partner with other departments during expansion activities.

In addition to brewing and packing equipment, manage the brewery utilities operations (boilers, chillers, cooling towers, power, compressed air, CO2, electricity and natural gas).

  • Ensure team is effectively supporting 24/7 coverage to monitor systems and address any issues promptly.

  • Develop priorities, timelines, and requirements for Utilities and Maintenance project needs projecting out several years.

  • Assist with scoping, developing, and planning for other projects as needed.

  • Manage contractors following the guidelines set forth by EHS and management.


    Engineering degree required, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar technical degree preferred with a minimum of 8 years’ experience. Focus on implementing and managing reliability and maintenance programs in food / beverage plants or related industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Including:

    • CMMS, ERP and inventory management

    • Project management

    • Reliability tools such as Pareto analysis, FMEA, RCM, and root cause analysis

    • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), A3 thinking, Lean mfg.

    • Systems including pumps, valves, PLC controls, sensors, solids separation, and refrigeration.

    • Computer competency with internet browsers, Word, Excel, Project, Visio.
